Workshop Description:
Medical school advice is everywhere, but much of it is second-hand, outdated, or confidently delivered by people who have no clue how admissions decisions are actually made. This workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want a clear, accurate understanding of what it takes to be competitive at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Keme Carter, MD, Associate Dean for Admissions and Professor, will explain how Pritzker evaluates applicants beyond GPA and MCAT, including evidence of intellectual curiosity, service orientation, sustained commitment, leadership, teamwork, research or scholarly engagement, and mission fit. You will learn how committees interpret your experiences, letters, essays, and interview performance, and how to avoid common pitfalls that weaken otherwise strong applications. You can come, ask your questions, and get answers directly from the source in a practical, supportive format. Whether you are early in your premed journey or preparing to apply soon, you will leave with clearer expectations, smarter priorities, and concrete next steps to strengthen your application with integrity, purpose, and impact.
