Workshop Description:
“Conquering Doubts: Triumphing Over Imposter Syndrome and Negativity in Your Pre-Med Journey” is a transformative workshop crafted for community college and university PreMed students who face the daunting challenges of self-doubt and external negativity. This empowering session is designed to equip aspiring medical professionals with the tools and mindset to overcome imposter syndrome and turn naysayers’ doubts into motivational fuel.
Leading this inspiring workshop is Melissa, a fourth-year medical student at USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA. As she applies to psychiatry residency programs, Melissa brings her passion for decreasing mental health stigma in minority communities and providing culturally sensitive care. Her journey as a first-generation premed student, overcoming numerous challenges and misconceptions, has equipped her with unique insights and strategies for battling the internal and external obstacles that PreMed students often face.
Melissa’s initiative, evident in her popular Instagram page (browngirl_whitecoat), focuses on mentorship and support for students in similar situations. In this workshop, she will share her personal experiences and practical tips on staying resilient, positive, and confident throughout the PreMed journey.
