This student-centered and inspirational workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want clear, practical, SEO-friendly insight into how to become competitive for the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Michael Richards, M.A., Director of Admissions, will share guidance on what helps applicants stand out, including academic preparation, clinical experience, service, leadership, personal growth, professionalism, and mission fit. Students will learn how to approach the medical school application process with greater strategy, authenticity, and confidence while avoiding common mistakes that can weaken an otherwise strong application. You can come, ask your questions and get answers in a supportive environment focused on clarity and real next steps. Most importantly, come hear directly from the source instead of second-hand or bad information or people who have no clue about the admission process. Leave informed, encouraged, and better prepared to pursue your path to medicine with purpose.
About the Speaker:
Mr. Richards provides leadership in the areas of recruitment and outreach for the MD, MD/MBA, and MD/MPH programs. Prior to his current post in admissions, he worked in the Keck School’s curriculum department on examination development for the MD program. His previous professional experience includes work in human resources, talent development and organizational effectiveness. He is a passionate, lifelong learner who enjoys speaking with prospective applicants and educational organization representatives about the many opportunities that the Keck School of Medicine has to offer.
Mr. Richards earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and his master’s degree in educational psychology from California State University, Northridge.
