About the Speaker:
Dr. Regina Stokes Offodile is the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions. As a graduate of the Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science her career has come full circle. she is blessed with the opportunity to give opportunity, the promise of changing the trajectory of lives and increasing the number of physicians to care for the poor and underserved. This role coupled with her previous experiences as Interim Department Chair of Medical Education, Division Chief of Clinical Skills and Competencies and Director of the Pamela C. Williams Center for Clinical Skills and Simulation at Meharry Medical College (MMC) and the Co-director of the Meharry/Vanderbilt InterProfessional Education (IPE) Collaborative will assist her in making substantial contributions to the education and training of the next generations of physicians trained at The Charles R Drew University College of Medicine physicians to care for marginalized populations. While at Meharry Medical College (MMC) she was actively involved in the MMC community serving on the LCME committee, the Admissions Committee and the Curriculum Committee. She also served as faculty advisor for the following student organizations: Simulation interest group and Association of Women Surgeons.
She is proud to state that her educational journey includes being a graduate of Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science and completing a Surgical Residency at King/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles CA followed by a Breast Oncology Fellowship at Stanford University. She went on to complete a residency in Preventive Medicine Residency at Meharry Medical College . She had the opportunity to complete an Integrative medicine program at Duke University. As a result of her interest in and dedication to medical education she obtained Masters in Health Professions Education and a Masters in Management of Healthcare from Vanderbilt University. These two degrees coupled with her certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator with the Society of Simulation in Healthcare helped her transform the medical education process at Meharry Medical College. The positive impact of her training and education was particularly evident during the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. Her training supported the creation of an online clinical skills education curriculum for medical students at Meharry Medical College. Being awarded a multimillion dollar grant to transform and support the medical education process of the students at Meharry Medical College helped to support the success of the student body and was a major achievement for her. She is an advocate for unmatched medical
students. She has transformed the Medical Education Fellowship by creating an academically rigorous foundation. This program went on to support many unmatched Meharry students. This program has a successful match rate of 90% after completing the program.
Her role as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions, her dedication to the work and legacy of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine, College of Medicine, medical education , medical student well-being, and medical student success has proven her to be an asset to CDU.
