Workshop Description:
Thinking about transferring to a four-year university with strong support and minimal debt? In this session, Julia Florence, Manager of Scholarships, will demystify the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship—what it is, who’s competitive, and exactly how to apply with confidence. You’ll learn how “last-dollar” funding can provide up to $55,000 per year for two to three years, helping cover tuition, living expenses, books, and required fees at any accredited institution. We will walk through eligibility, selection criteria, and timelines, then break down every application component: impact-focused essays, strategic recommender choices, activity documentation, and accurate financial materials. You will also hear how Cooke Scholars benefit from multifaceted advising to maximize the transfer experience, plus career and graduate-school preparation, and opportunities to apply for internship stipends, conference travel, and the Cooke Graduate Scholarship. This is a practical, step-by-step guide tailored to community college and university premed students—no fluff, just what works. You can come, ask your questions and get answers you can use immediately. Most importantly, come hear directly from the source instead of second-hand or bad information or people that have no clue about the admission process. Leave with a clear checklist, a realistic timeline, and a stronger plan to stand out and succeed.

This event is open to ALL Community College Students, regardless of major.

The Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is a highly selective scholarship for the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at four-year colleges or universities.
Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships they may receive. This highly competitive scholarship includes:

  • The opportunity to graduate with as little debt as possible. The award, which is last dollar funding after all institutional aid, can provide as much as $55,000 per year to complete a bachelor’s degree at any accredited undergraduate institution.
  • Ability to pursue any area of study.
  • Multifaceted advising on transitioning to a four-year college and maximizing the student experience.
  • Career and graduate school preparation – including the opportunity to apply for internship stipends, conference stipends, and the Cooke Graduate Scholarship.
  • Opportunity to apply for the Internship Stipend program, Conference and Travel Stipend, and Graduate Scholarship.
