PreMedCC Leadership Team
Saturday December 5, 2026,
10am-11:30am PST
Workshop Description:
For community college and university premedical students trying to understand how to navigate research, transfer, scholarships, mentorship, and the path to medicine, this workshop offers an honest look at the hidden curriculum that many students are never taught. Steve Salinas, a fourth year UC Irvine student and member of the PreMedCC Leadership Team, will share lessons from his journey as a first generation Mexican Peruvian community college transfer student who went from a low high school GPA to becoming a Barry Goldwater Scholar, UCI Regents Scholar, NIH MARC Scholar, and 2026 HHMI Cech Fellow at Boston Childrens Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Students will learn how to find opportunities, build meaningful relationships, strengthen applications, and make strategic decisions throughout the premedical journey. Come, ask your questions, and get answers from someone who has personally navigated these systems. Hear directly from the source instead of relying on second hand information, bad advice, or people who have no clue about the process. Your starting point does not determine your destination. Come learn the rules, find the opportunities, and build the path forward with confidence.
