Workshop Description:
Medical school admissions can feel overwhelming, especially when so much advice is second-hand, outdated, or coming from people who have no clue how admissions decisions are actually made. This workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want clear, accurate guidance about how to become a competitive applicant for the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix. Mira Milas, MD, FACS, Associate Dean of Admissions, and Nafis Shamsid-Deen, MD, FCCP, Assistant Dean for the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, will offer direct insight into what their admissions team values most, including academic preparation, clinical exposure, service, leadership, professionalism, resilience, and mission fit. They will also discuss how applicants can stand out through their experiences, writing, and interviews while avoiding common mistakes that weaken an application. You can come, ask your questions and get answers in a supportive, student-centered environment built to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. Most importantly, come hear directly from the source instead of second-hand or bad information or people who have no clue about the admission process. Leave inspired, informed, and better prepared to take your next step toward medicine.
