Workshop Description:
Your online presence is part of your application—long before you click submit. In this practical session, Adrienne Silver, MD, Director of Medical Education at Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa, shows you how to turn social media and digital tools into strengths for admissions. We’ll cover digital professionalism (what selection committees actually notice), privacy settings that protect you, and how to avoid pitfalls such as posting about clinical experiences, patient information, or test-prep violations. You’ll learn strategies to build a credible footprint—email etiquette, LinkedIn basics, a simple portfolio site, scholarly visibility (posters, abstracts), and how to document service and hours. We’ll also discuss virtual-interview readiness, Zoom best practices, and smart outreach to mentors and physicians online. Whether you are at a community college, university, or post-bacc, you can come, ask your questions and get answers tailored to your stage. Most importantly, come hear directly from the source instead of second-hand or bad information or people who have no clue about the admission process. Leave with a concise checklist and a confident plan for digital readiness to follow.
