About the Speaker:
Dr. Martinez serves as the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, since 2011, becoming the youngest medical school Assistant now Associate Dean in the country. In 2021, she became the Interim Associate Vice President for Health Parity for the University of Iowa Health Care. She is the Medical Director for the Iowa Mobile Health Clinic, a free health clinic system run by University of Iowa health professional students serving underserved populations. She attended Tufts University School of Medicine for her medical degree and is a Family Physician. She was named by the National Minority Quality Forum as one of the top “40 under 40 Leaders in Minority Health”, one of the “100 Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx Scientists in American” by Cell Mentor, and “Faculty Mentor of the Year” by the Latino Medical Student Association.
