Workshop Description:

Then you should come and meet Adrienne who is a US Army veteran, mother, wife, and winner of the prestigious Tillman Scholar and a current MD/PhD student. Come and find out about what MD/PhD programs are and hear from someone who transitioned from the US Army to Medicine.
About the Speaker:
Adrienne Kambouris is a native Baltimorean with a strong desire to make an impact in her hometown. She has wanted to be a doctor since she was 8 years old and joined the
Army directly after high school to make her dreams possible. After over 10 years of service, Adrienne returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in cell and molecular biology and chemistry from Augusta University. She is currently a fourth-year graduate student in the Molecular Microbiology and Immunology Department as a part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Maryland. Adrienne is investigating how burns impact the innate immune system and the resulting susceptibility to infection. She hopes to earn her PhD in molecular microbiology and immunology and practice surgery in the future, with a focus on burns, trauma and wound healing.
