Then you must attend our session with Dr. Patton who overcame the odds and obstacles to become an Anesthesiologist, a leader in his field, and an Assistant Professor at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

About the Speaker:
Dr. John W. Patton III (John) is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine. He graduated from UC Irvine School of Medicine with a dual degree (MD/MBA) and went on to complete his intern year at UC Irvine in Preliminary Medicine. He completed his Anesthesia residency at Stanford and a regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine (RAAPM) fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Although an acute pain specialist, he received in-depth training in many disciplines including general anesthesia, OB anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, intensive care and perioperative medicine.
John is very involved in leadership. While at Stanford he served as the Director of Stanford’s Anesthesia Diversity Council, was a Leadership Education in Advancing Diversity (LEAD) scholar and was a GME Diversity Liaison. At Cedars he was a member of the GME Diversity Committee. He currently serves on 2 committees in UCLA’s Department of Anesthesia. In addition, John was (and remains) actively involved with The California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) and The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
John’s goal is to leverage his MBA, leadership skills and healthcare background to actively participate in efforts focusing on healthcare cost containment, the evolution of medical education and redefining value in health care. He is passionate about organizational management, technology and innovation, and big data. In addition, John is involved in mentorship and believes strongly in ensuring that one’s gifts, talents and successes are used to help the disadvantaged and/or next generation recognize their full potential.
In his free time, John enjoys cooking, shopping at farmer’s markets, staying active, rooting for his hometown teams (Lakers and Dodgers), spending time with his wife Melissa and son JP4, and traveling. Follow John’s journey in medicine on social media: Twitter @drjohnpatton and IG @docjp3.
