Black Men in White Coats Youth Summit 2023
Join us for an exciting day of mentorship, hands-on activities, and networking as we strengthen the future of health care. Middle school and high school students (All genders in grades 6 through 12), college students, post-baccalaureate students, parents/guardians, educators, healthcare professionals and community leaders are all welcome!
Kaiser Permanente (KP) and the Black Men in White Coats Youth Organization seeks to provide underrepresented minority youth with exposure to the medical field through the following:
- Robust discussion topics led by content experts
- Activities with dynamic speakers and diverse physician panelists
- Educational breakout sessions covering an array of topics including: networking skills, study skills workshops, total health, support for parents & educational guidance from local counselors
Black Men in White Coats started in 2013 in response to an alarming report that highlighted the decreasing number of black men applying to medical school. KP continues to work closely with medical schools, high schools, and physicians to provide inspiration and mentorship to our youth who may be interested in careers in healthcare. Over the course of the day, students will engage in hands-on activities and network with healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
